BASER Amer used to go to a known fitness gym and pay a monthly membership fee to put in his extra strength and weight training after Meralco practices.
So why not put up your own gym?
A gym rat whose work ethic can rival that of mentor Jimmy Alapag, the Bolts star has launched Hammer Fitness, his own fitness gym where he now puts in his extra work – while encouraging others to do the same.
Amer gave SPIN.ph a quick tour of his new playground and first business venture located along Bonifacio ave., Cainta, somewhere relatively near his Rizal home during its soft opening a few weeks ago.
“Sobrang happy na finally na sa age ko na ganito, may sarili na akong business,” said the 5-foot-10 playmaker, who turned 26 last September. “At the same time, mahilig ako mag-work out, so dream ko talaga ‘to na magtayo ng sariling gym.”
“Ako kasi, kailangan every day, parang naging habit ko na na mag-work out lagi,” the pride of Ma-a, Davao City added. “So every time na nagwo-work out ako sa Anytime Fitness, lagi ko siyang naaalala na, ‘Sana may sarili na akong gym.’”
Named after his moniker, his gym offers athlete training and strength and conditioning workouts at the CrossFit section, apart from the usual weight training courtesy of equipment from Xtreme Equipment.
The Cainta gym also plans to offer boxing workout services early next year.
One-month subscription costs P1,200, but price can go down to as low as around P834 per month if you avail of year-long membership.
Group packages for a minimum of five people start at P3,000 each per three months, and can even slide further to as much as P667 per person of the group that avails of a 12-month fee.
All gym users are entitled to train under a coach.
“Hindi siya pang-high class. Maka-masa siya,” Amer assured. “Pero kahit pang-masa, gusto ko pagandahin pa rin para ma-feel din nila na maging comfortable sila.”
But working out would be for nothing if you won’t complement it with eating the right food, so that’s why Amer completes his healthy lifestyle by eating healthy food from neighborhood resto Manna Philippines, which provided the food during the launch.
