A FIVE-MAN team to be led by television personalities Matteo Guidicelli and Drew Arellano will represent the Philippines in the Xterra Off-Road Triathlon Championships in Maui, Hawaii on October 28.

The team organized by Vaseline Men will have two more members to be voted in by the public in an online poll ahead of the 1.5-kilometer rough-water swim, a 29.5-km mountain bike and a 9.8-km trail run.

“It added a new dimension, challenge and flavor to the sport,” said coach Noy Jopson, who is also assured a spot in the team.

The candidates for the two slots are Takbo.ph’s Jinoe Gavan, chiropractor Martin Camara, Second Wind’s Hector Yuzon, ultramarathoner Mark Hernandez, Health Food president Raffy Zamora, swimbikerun.ph’s Carlos De Guzman and Sutherland Global Services corporate training center manager Redg Plopinio.

Along with Guidicelli and Arellano, the candidates underwent a grueling three-day camp dubbed 'The Vaseline Men XTERRA Tri-Outs Camp: Race to Maui' which will be shown on Youtube at www.youtube.com/vaselinemenph.
