THE father-daughter tandem of Monchu and Bianca Garcia ruled the Balai Isabel Round Taal Volcano Regatta to take home the 2013 Round Taal Volcano Governor’s Cup last week.

Sailing in their Hobie 16 catamaran, the duo rounded the Taal Volcano in 2 hours and 5 minutes.

Rex Puentespina and Art Pascua came in second in the Round Taal Volcano race, but continues to hold the record, with a time under two hours, which they achieved in 2012. This year the pair won the overall RTV regatta trophy.

Brent and Jason Chamberlain captured the overall B-Fleet trophy.

Now on its 14th year, the regatta is supported by the Philippine Inter Island Sailing Foundation (PHINSAF), and organized by the Taal Lake Yacht Club, and is an actual race around the Taal Volcano. There are usually eight races, one of which is the “Governors Cup” and the actual “Round Taal Volcano” or RTV race.

The event was covered by Action Boating and Watersports, and the Hyper Channel under Cignal Cable TV.
