BRIDESMAIDS no more.
For the past two conferences of the Philippine Super Liga, F2 Logistics has always settled for silver, as arch rival Petron took all the glory in the 2018 All-Filipino Conference and 2019 Grand Prix.
On Tuesday, the Cargo Movers finally took home the bacon and ruled this year's All-Filipino Conference.
F2 Logistics faced a different foe in the best-of-three finals series and swept the Cignal HD Spikers to bag its second All-Filipino title and fourth overall championship since joining the league in 2016.
“Ito ‘yung lagi kong sinasabi sa players na meron tayong unfinished business,” said Cargo Movers coach Ramil de Jesus. “Palagi kaming nasa finals pero banderang kapos. Ngayon nakuha namin ‘yung goal, very happy kami sa championship.”
Cignal put up a gallant stand in Game 1, as F2 Logistics needed five sets to win the opener, 25-22, 26-24, 18-25, 17-25, 15-8, on Saturday at the Araneta Coliseum. But De Jesus was able to adjust and the Cargo Movers demolished the HD Spikers in Game 2, 25-14, 25-16, 25-19, to clinch the championship.
Still, Cignal had nothing to be ashamed off.
“Proud pa rin ako, although siyempre nangarap tayo na makuha 'yung championship. Unang-una, 'yung pinagdaanan namin from fifth place nakuha namin 'yung semifinals, tapos ngayon 'yung finals,” said Cignal coach Edgar Barroga. “Proud ako kasi marami kaming pinagdaanan.”
