THE Games and Amusements Board (GAB) condemned illegal cockfighting activities during the enhanced community quarantine, saying in put legitimate stakeholders of the industry in a bad light.
The GAB regulates and supervises the conduct of professional sports in the country such as basketball, boxing, billiards, MMA, e-sports, horse racing, and cockfighting. It also has a mandate to prevent illegal gambling.
Reports bared authorities have made arrests in different parts of the country for tupadas in violation of the ECQ. Some were reportedly caught betting the money given to them under the government's social amelioration program.
Mitra urged cockfighting afficionados to follow the rules.
“Umiwas na sa mga ganitong gawain at sa mga bahay or farm na lang kayo,” said Mitra.
