RIGHT in time for Father’s Day, specialty bookstore Fully Booked announced that they now have fresh copies of The Mamba Mentality: How I Play.
A sizable hardcover book, it will look good in the library of any serious basketball fan. Inside the 200+ page book, Kobe himself takes the reader through a walkthrough of his life in basketball.
While the book itself is a weighty tome, it’s a surprisingly easy read, with the text split into bite-sized snippets and accompanied by some exclusive photos from longtime Lakers photographer Andrew D. Bernstein. (Bernstein himself was in the limelight recently, as many of his photos from the golden age of the Chicago Bulls were used as promo materials for The Last Dance.)
Some choice lines from the book:
"You can manipulate an opponent’s strength and use it against them."
“If you really want to be great at something you have to truly care about it. If you want to be great in a particular area, you have to obsess over it.”
“I wasn’t willing to sacrifice my game, but I also wasn’t willing to sacrifice my family time. So I decided to sacrifice sleep, and that was that.”
The book was first released back in 2018. Kobe’s words now have an even more special significance today, only months after his untimely death.
You can order the book online via the Fully Booked website. It retails for P1,735.
