CHRISTOPHER FROOME won the Tour de France’s first mountain finish this year and Bradley Wiggins climbed to the top of the overall standings after Saturday’s seventh stage.
Wiggins took over from Switzerland’s Fabian Cancella, who had worn the yellow jersey since topping the prologue and entered Saturday’s race with a seven second lead.
British rider Wiggins leads Cadel Evans of Australia and Vincenzo Nibali of Italy by 10 seconds.
Froome finished the 199-kilometer ride from Tomblaine to La Planche des Belles Filles in four hours, 58 minutes and 35 seconds, while Evans and Wiggins crossed the finish line two seconds later.
Nibali was seven seconds off the stage winner while Rein Taaramae of Estonia finished 19 seconds after Froome.
Cancellara finished almost two minutes later.
