ANOTHER member of the NorthPort Batang Pier made headlines for the wrong reasons on Tuesday.
ABS-CBN News reported that Fran Yu was allegedly involved in an argument with a barangay councilor at Barangay 350, Sta. Cruz, Manila. The barangay councilor sustained wounds to his face when he fell in a gutter after he was allegedly pushed by Yu.
The Batang Pier guard denied the accusation to ABS-CBN News.
According to the report, the barangay councilor called the attention of Yu, whose motorcycle was allegedly parked illegally outside a fastfood chain.
ABS-CBN News also reported that a CCTV footage showed that Yu and the barangay councilor speaking to each other, with the latter seen losing his balance and falling to the gutter.
Another barangay councilor identified as Kagawad Victorino Farrales also got involved in a heated argument with Yu after the pushing incident.
“Lagi akong nagpa-park sa spot na yun, tapos ngayon lang may sumita sa akin. Nagka-taasan ng boses, tapos nahulog ‘yung sumita sa aking tanod sa gutter, kasi may gutter doon eh. Nakita nung kagawad, tinulak ko raw. Eh bakit ko naman itutulak ‘yun?” said Yu, who also allegedly sustained a bruise from the incident.
The report comes with NorthPort in the middle of its preparations for its PBA 49th Season Commissioner’s Cup semifinal series against Barangay Ginebra, which will start on February 26.
The Batang Pier have been in the news outside of their PBA campaign over the past few months starting last September when John Amores was involved in a shooting incident in Lumban, Laguna.
Team governor Erick Arejola was also in the middle of a controversial melee in an NBTC game in Las Pinas City last January.
