IT’S BEEN a slam dunk for The First Slam Dunk.

If the box office receipts are anything to go by, fans seemed undeterred by its new CGI look. The prequel movie based on the bestselling sports manga and anime raked it in during its first weekend in Japan. According to reports, the animated flick sold 847,000 tickets across two days since its December 3 opening for a strong JPY1.296 billion (around P522.6 million) performance that pushed down Your Name director Makoto Shinkai’s movie Suzume to second place.
