Firefly Brigade's latest bike ride includes clean-up of Manila's coastal areas

The Firefly Brigade will ride from Quezon City to southern Metro Manila where cyclists will help clean up the Las Piñas-Parañaque Critical Habitat and Ecotourism Area (LPPCHEA).  

REDUCE your carbon footprint, get some exercise and help clean the environment with the Firefly Brigade on its monthly bike ride on May 18, Sunday.

"Padyakan: Sagip Bakawan" is the bicycle advocacy group’s critical mass ride (CMR) for May involves a bike ride and coastal clean-up at the Las Piñas-Parañaque Critical Habitat and Ecotourism Area (LPPCHEA).

The 6 a.m. ride starts at the Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Center, North Avenue Gate, Quezon City. Assembly time is at 4:30 a.m. and participants will avail of free registration & t-shirts. Free snacks will be distributed at the LPPCHEA.

Organizers said pick-up point for participants who would like to shorten their ride distance may catch the peloton at the Jetty gasoline station at Macapagal Highway.

There will also be on-site registration upon arrival at LPPCHEA for participants joining-in along the way.

The clean-up is scheduled for two (2) hours. Mask and gloves will be provided at the venue.

Participants are advised that the area is muddy so sandals, shoes or boots are recommended.

Organizers said riders should be in white or dark colored clothing since bright colored attire is strictly prohibited since these could disturb the birds in the area.

Water for drinking and washing-up will be provided c/o Maynilad

Participants will be grouped into teams of four members each for every garbage sack (3 members to collect garbage as one fills-up data cards regarding the garbage collected).
