IF being an athlete is already difficult on its own, what more a mother-slash-wife-slash-student-slash-athlete?
Creamline wing spiker Fille Cainglet-Cayetano finds balance in her multi-hyphenate life — as mom to three beautiful children, a partner to hubby Lino, an MBA student, and a volleyball player.
At 29, Fille is filled with so much joy.
"Ngayon, happy ako maging full-time volleyball player. Hopefully, matapos ko na 'yung MA [master's degree] ko," she shared to SPIN Life.
During games, the former Ateneo star would bring one child, either Ino, Nei Nei or Lily. The doting mom shared that her children are the reason why she keeps on playing.
“Paisa-isang anak lang, isang anak lang kaya kong dalhin sa game,” she said, laughing, while Nei Nei clung to her.
Although her kids are still too young to understand what she does, Fille is hoping to be a good example for them.
"Ine-expose ko sila sa sports para lang makita nila na naglalaro si Mama nila. Kaya rin naman ako naglalaro kasi 'yun naman ang dream ko, na makita nila akong naglalaro," she added. "Ine-expose ko sila kasi kapag nakita nila si Mama nila na nagso-sports, baka gusto rin nilang maglaro."
In their past two games in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference, Fille provided the much-needed firepower for Creamline, as top hitter Alyssa Valdez continues to be sidelined due to a right foot sprain.
"It's so unfortunate na si Alyssa nga na-injure and you have to step up. Anything that I will do is for the team, kahit ano'ng kailangan ng team ko 'yun ang gagawin ko," she said. "Kaya 'yung pressure medyo gumaan na, hindi ko inisip 'yung sarili ko na ‘Ay kailangan kong tumalon, ay kailangan kong mag-receive'."
With her master's degree in business administration almost done, the PVL is halfway through the elimination round, her job as a momma-thlete continues.
She related, "Kasi 'di ba noong nasa Ateneo ako nag-MBA ako para makapaglaro ako sa UAAP ng fifth year ko? Nag-master's ako, kaya lang hindi ko matapus-tapos kasi lagi akong buntis. So ngayon, may time na ako isang subject thesis na lang... submission na next week."
