GILAS Pilipinas kicked off its redemption bid with a 94-45 romp over Malaysia in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games on Tuesday in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser was the surprise package for Gilas with a team-high 15-point, Justin Brownlee scored 11 and Arvin Tolentino added 10.

The young guns were quick to make an impression in the biennial meet as collegiate cagers Michael Phillips, Jerom Lastimosa, and Mason Amos combined for 25 points in the tournament opener.

Gilas fans, however, refused to be in a celebratory mood straight away as the job is far from finished with host nation Cambodia (May 11) and Singapore (May 13) still to come in the preliminaries.
