ALEX Eala’s dream run – the first of more to come – wasn’t to be, as her Miami Open campaign came to an end in the semifinals against world No. 4 Jessica Pegula, 6(3)-7, 7-5, 3-6.

The Filipina tennis sensation lost a 5-2 game lead in the opening set, but pulled through with a 7-5 fightback in the second set.

Pegula then picked up the first break of the third set at 5-3, one that marked the beginning of the end for Eala, as the American ace slammed the door shut on what would’ve been another extended set.

Even in defeat, Pinoy fans still beamed with pride in reacting to the end of Eala’s unlikely yet magical run in Miami.
