VOLLEYBALL fans took to Twitter to air their thoughts after the UAAP bared the winners of the season individual awards, a day before Game One of the finals between University of Santo Tomas and Ateneo at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
For the first time, the UAAP will honor players per position, to conform to international standards set by the FIVB and AVC.
The results weren't exactly well-received.
Lady Eagles team captain Maddie Madayag and #JusticeForMaddie became a trending topic on Twitter after the graduating middle blocker was named second best middle blocker, next to National University’s Rose Doria.
At the end of the double-round elimination, Madayag finished first in blocks with a total of 44 kill blocks and 0.86 average per set, while Doria came in second with 37 total rejections and 0.69 average per set.
So, fans were naturally left guessing why Doria finished ahead of Madayag in the best middle blocker race.
The UAAP is yet to release an official statement regarding the computation of the individual awards.
