THE DRAGON BALL franchise has truly made its mark in the anime and manga industry as its martial arts action, colorful cast of characters, lore, and iconic villains have served as a massive influence to aspiring animators.
None of this would've been possible without the genius of Akira Toriyama, the man responsible for the creation of the Dragon Ball franchise.
Sad to say, it was announced on the official website that he passed away.
"We are deeply saddened to inform you that Manga creator Akira Toriyama passed away on March 1st due to acute subdural hematoma. He was in age of 68," as stated by the website.
However it was also revealed that Toriyama still had some projects that are on the works.
"It's our deep regret that he still had several works in the middle of creation with great enthusiasm. Also, he would have many more things to achieve."
While many have associated Toriyama's work with the Dragon Ball franchise, he has also made his mark in the video game industry as his artworks were also seen in Chrono Trigger, Dragon Quest, and Blue Dragon. He was also involved with another manga, Dr. Slump.
"However, he has left many manga titles and works of art to this world. Thanks to the support of so many people around the world, he has been able to continue his creative activities for over 45 years. We hope that Akira Toriyama's unique world of creation continues to be loved by everyone for a long time to come."
