TRADING basketballs for blossoms, former NBA star Derrick Rose ventured into the flower business for a day to thank his fans in Chicago, where he will be feted by the Bulls on Saturday (Sunday, Manila time).
The former Chicago Bulls star and league MVP officially retired last week and traded his basketball shoes for gardening gloves and a green apron when he opened the pop-up Rose's Flower Shop in downtown Chicago.
"Rose's Flower Shop. Open for business," the Chicago hometown hero said on IG.

Rose first graced the NBA hardwood in 2008, earned himself individual honors before he was sidelined by a slew of injuries. After a long-delayed comeback, his career spanned across multiple teams before he retired last year.
The pop-up shop, he said, was his way of paying it forward to the 'hood' people who first believed in his capabilities.
"We all know you don't have to prove [anything] to anybody but yourself, but what if you [grew up] in an environment [where] you have to prove yourself in order to be considered 'great'. Chicago is that place," he said.
Based on his galleries, the concept of the shop is designed with a rustic yet modern aesthetic, a reflection of Rose’s personal journey as it is an extension of his deep connection to the city of Chicago.
