IT’S OFFICIAL: the massive Disney-Fox merger has finally been completed last Wednesday, March 20. The $71 billion-sized deal being inked means Disney will acquire Fox’s film and television units, plus its 60-percent stake in streaming giant, Hulu, among interests in other businesses.
Of course, quick to make his new “owners” worry about what they got themselves into is Fox’s problematic son, Deadpool, or Ryan Reynolds if we’re being specific. @VancityReynolds tweeted a pic of himself as the Merc with a Mouth while waving out the back of a school bus which read ‘Disney’. His caption read: “Feels like the first day of ‘Pool." The funniest part? He’s wearing Mickey Mouse ears.
Of course, when the news first broke out about the Disney-Fox merger, many fans of Deadpool worried about the fate of his R-rated flicks in the House of Mouse. But in February, Disney CEO, Bob Iger, confirmed that studio still has huge plans for the Regenerating Degenerate.
In January, Reynolds teased that the third film in the franchise would “go in a completely different direction” from the first two, adding that “often, they reboot or change a character maybe like four movies too late.”
The actor also joked that the third installment may be titled Deadpool 3: Little Bitchy Bitch, a tribute to the nickname Chinese fans gave his on-screen character.
