CHOT Reyes will be stepping down as chief executive officer (CEO) of TV5, according to multiple media reports.

The former Gilas Pilipinas coach confirmed to the Philippine Daily Inquirer a report by Fashion Pulis that he will be leaving TV5 with Cignal TV president Jane Basas taking over the position.

“I’ve been here more than five years and, you know I’m really not the corporate guy. I asked if I could opt for early retirement,” Reyes told the Inquirer.

Reyes later thanked Manny V. Pangilinan for the time he spent with the MVP Group in different capacities.

“It’s been a great 10 years with boss MVP and the group. But now, it’s time to move on to other things,” said Reyes.

After being replaced by Tab Baldwin after the 2014 Asian Games, Reyes returned in 2016, but his stint ended last year following the brawl that erupted in the Fiba Basketball World Cup qualifiers last year against the Australia at the Philippine Arena.

Unconfirmed reports of a falling out between Reyes and Pangilinan over basketball-related issues have been spreading in the sports community which the Inquirer also reported.
