Sources said there is at least one other prominent candidate for the position.
Contacted for comment, Trinidad confirmed he has been asked about his interest in the position and he has expressed his willingness to draw on his vast experience to help turn the GAB into a vital tool for sports development and nation-building.
The son of veteran sports columnist Recah Trinidad has over three decades of experience in sports media and served as the commissioner when the PBL stood as one of the top commercial leagues in the country.
He has also served as a founding member of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP), professional boxing division consultant of the GAB and is currently the CEO of the PilipinasHD Television Broadcast, Inc.
Trinidad said his willingness to take on the job stemmed from his belief that if the GAB's mandate can be strengthened and consolidated and its resources channeled properly, the agency can play a vital role in the development of Philippine sports.

He zeroed in on pro boxing and billiards, which, Trinidad said, stands to benefit from a revitalized GAB leadership.
Trinidad's colleague in Vintage Enterprise's coverage of the PBA games in the 90s, Noli Eala, is now the chairman of the Philippine Sports Commission.
