IT’S A bittersweet honor.
Twitter has acknowledged that Chadwick Boseman’s final Tweet — a statement from the actor’s family confirming his passing — is now the most liked Tweet of all time.
“Most liked Tweet ever,” said the social media giant. “A tribute fit for a King.”
As of posting Chadwick Boseman’s Tweet has 5.9 million “hearts”, with 2.9 million retweets.
“He died in his home, with his wife and family by his side. The family thanks you for your prayers, and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time,” read the message in part.
Tributes have poured in, over Twitter and other social media platforms, for the late actor, who died at age 43 after a prolonged — and secretive — battle with colon cancer.
NBA stars have weighed in, paying tribute to a big hoops fan who was often spotted courtside.
This year, he was a judge at the NBA All-Star Weekend’s eventful Slam Dunk contest, along with panelists Dwyane Wade, Common, Candace Parker, and Scottie Pippen. Pop Culture called the All-Star Weekend Boseman’s “last final public appearance.”
Politicians, fellow actors, and athletes paid tribute to the star all throughout yesterday, Manila time. F1 racer Lewis Hamilton even dedicated his pole position at the Belgian Grand Prix to the actor.
On Facebook, Chadwick Boseman's post received 1.3 million reactions as of posting, as well as 121,000 comments. On Instagram, it received more than 17 million "hearts."
