CALVIN Abueva is making sure he is physically ready before he gets back to PBA action. At the same time, he's ironing things out with family, especially his wife Sam.
It was in June this year when the couple threw mud at each other in a social media spat that allowed the public to feast on the couple's marital problems.
But on Wednesday, the suspended Phoenix star bared to SPIN Life that he and Sam are back in each other's arms.
"Actually, isang buwan na kami ngayon," he shared. "At hopefully, magtuluy-tuloy na itong nangyayari sa pamilya namin. Hindi lang naman para sa akin, kung di para sa mga bata kasi sila ang maaapektuhan eh. Lalo ang liliit pa nila."
The second pick overall in the 2012 PBA draft out of San Sebastian was also pleased to share that they have put the painful past behind them and are ready to move forward.
"Marami akong natutunan. Siyempre sa akin, seven years [ago] bago nangyari 'yun, ang ganda ng pinapakita ko," said the 2013 Rookie of the Year and 2016 Commissioner's Cup Best Player of the Conference.
"Kaso lang hindi naman natin masasabi, as a person, my mga pagkakamali ka rin na darating sa 'yo. Hindi naman all the time tama ka, may mga kahinaaan ka rin."
But if there's one thing that the brouhaha has taught him, it's to humbly accept that he made mistakes: "Good naman na lahat, dumadaan talaga sa tao 'yan na may mga di pagkakaintindihan, pero ang mahalaga bawat conflict ayusin."
Aside from working on his game and conditioning, Abueva is focused on his newborn son, Alejandro Calvin.
He related, "Ang daming gulo, ang daming naging issue sa mga nangyari, 'di ba? Ako ngayon, pino-focus ko ang sarili ko kung paano ko ma-i-improve ang sarili ko."
