Birthday-boy Arwind Santos gets surprise treat from SMB fans

Jun 9, 2019

SAN Miguel remained winless through two games in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup, but Arwind Santos still found a lot to be thankful for on Saturday night.

Two days before his 38th birthday, the San Miguel star was surprised by a simple celebration prepared by the Blazing Beermen Clan who prepared a cake and balloons and sang him 'Happy Birthday.'

The fans, knows as BBC, waited patiently outside Ynares Center in Antipolo City late Saturday just to have an early celebration with their idol after the Beermen's game against TNT KaTropa.

Santos saidthese little things that he shares with his fans made their bond more meaningful, the reason he made sure to thank each and every one before he left.

The former Far Eastern University star said things his fans do for him never go unappreciated.

Kaya sobrang thankful ako,” he added.

Pero ganoon talaga sila, nakasuporta talaga sila palagi,” he continued.

BBC president Ryan Ponce, whose group had previously thrown surprise birthday parties for Beermen Alex Cabagnot, June Mar Fajardo, and Chris Ross, shared to SPIN Life how the team pulled off the surprise.

“Mabilisan ‘yan, toka-toka lang, may bumili ng cake, may bumili ng lobo, habang nasa sasakyan kami naglo-lobo kami,” he said.

Seeing Arwind appreciate the gesture makes the effort all worth it.

“Masarap sa pakiramdam pero ‘yung pag-support namin unconditional eh, hindi naghahanap ng kapalit, kaya pag nagsasabi ‘yung mga idol namin na na-appreciate nila, syempre heartwarming,” he said.
