IT WAS a three-point performance that would make any Lakers fan wince.
Sure, the Blazers — who squeaked by a hair into the playoffs just last weekend — might be coming off a rolling, red-hot momentum, led by a Damian Lillard, who, yet again, was unfazed at the clutch.
Much like the Milwaukee Bucks, this LA squad has clearly not shaken off some of that restart rust.
It was a bad time today to be a top-ranked team, as eighth seeds Orlando and Portland toppled their conference leaders as their playoff series got started today. But it was especially rough for the Lakers, who have faltered and flailed with a 3-5 record inside the NBA bubble.
Nevertheless, the Lakers kept it close for most of the game, with LeBron contributing an eye-popping triple double (23 points, 17 rebounds, 16 assists) in his first playoff appearance for the team. Sadly, it wasn't enough.
On Twitter, Lakers fans alternately despaired and hoped for the best as their team fumbled its first playoff appearance since 2012. Other fans put it into perspective — this was just Game One, after all. Still, that didn’t stop the Laker haters from roaringly roasting the purple and gold.
