LOOKS LIKE the US ambassador to the Philippines is a Ginebra fan.
In the heart attack-inducing Game 6 between the Bay Area Dragons and the Ginebra Gin Kings, Ambassador MaryKay Carlson tweeted a picture of herself watching the game live on television while wearing NSD colors. “GINEBRA!” she wrote in her caption. “Let’s go team!”

Earlier in Game 5 of the hard-fought series, the ambassador — who was sworn into her post on May 26 of last year — participated in the ceremonial jump ball. In a tweet, she later praised the PBA as “the first pro basketball league outside of the U.S.,” and added that it “plays a key role in promoting the game of [basketball].”
She got her first taste of Philippine hoops when she attended Game 1 of the UAAP Finals. She later posted a video of the “amazing energy” of the crowd.
As a Ginebra fan, she, too, must have been sorely disappointed by the result of tonight's match-up, as the Chinese team squeaked past the Barangay, 87-84, to force a Game 7.
Will Ambassador Carlson be there in person in the Philippine Arena to cheer for the Gin Kings? Let’s see.
