Disgruntled members of a town in Batangas City took to Facebook on April 26 after all of the barangay’s four basketballs had gone missing. The barangay lent the basketballs to people who played on the town’s basketball court.
“Naubos na ang bola ng basketball. Hindi na ninyo binalik pagkakagamit. WALANG MAGAGAMIT NGAYONG ARAW,” read the post from the Facebook page of Sangguniang Kabataan - Barangay Wawa, Batangas City.
(“All the basketballs have gone missing. You did not return them after using them. THERE ARE NO BASKETBALLS AVAILABLE TODAY.”)
A couple of minutes later, the post was followed by another one.
“APAT NA BOLA, naubos na. Pinaglalaro na kayo, kukuhanin pa ang bola. HINDI MAGPAPALARO HANGGAT WALANG NAGBABALIK NG BOLA NG BARANGAY.”
(“FOUR BALLS, gone. We were kind enough to let you play, yet you did not return the ball. NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO PLAY UNLESS SOMEONE RETURNS THE BARANGAY’S BALLS.)
The post garnered tens of thousands of laugh reactions because of the passive-aggressive style of the post. One comment pointed out:
As of this writing, it is not clear whether the basketballs have been returned but the page posted videos of basketball matches after the online rant.
