SMART has relaunched NBA.com Philippines which aims at providing local perspective to the world’s most popular basketball league.

The digital service provider and the NBA announced the relaunch in a virtual press conference on Thursday as part of their new partnership to bring the games to a wider Filipino audience.

Cignal, Smart, and TV5 inked a deal with the NBA to broadcast the games in their different platforms starting with the bubble last year.

“We’re excited to partner with Smart and relaunch NBA.com/Philippines as we continue to expand our digital footprint in the country,” said Ramez Sheikh, NBA Asia head of global content and media distribution.

Smart president and CEO Al Panlilio said NBA.com Philippines can be accessed by subscribers without incurring data charges.

“This is us fulfilling our brand promise of making it simple and easy for customers to discover and pursue their passions from the best technology powered by Smart,” said Panlilio.

Just like in previous editions of the website, NBA.com Philippines will provide localized content but will now bring in Filipino personalities for their perspective of the game.

PLDT first vice-president and head of sports Jude Turcuato said Gilas Pilipinas program director Tab Baldwin and Jimmy Alapag will be part of the team to provide NBA content to Filipino fans.

Mico Halili is the chief editor of the site as a weekly podcast in NBA Hype Squad will also be available.

Smart users can watch the NBA season through NBA League Pass at a monthly rate of P485 and three-game choice package of P85. Prepaid customers can access NBA TV Philippines by dialing *123#, choosing GIGA VIDEO 99, and registering at NBA.Smart.
