Today, April 9, is a dual holiday — not only is it Maundy Thursday, it is also the Araw ng Kagitingan, or National Heroes Day.

In yesterday’s Laging Handa press briefing, Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles of the Inter-Agency Task Force urged all Filipinos to applaud for health workers at 5 p.m. every day, starting today.

Citizens can also post videos of gratitude, or even songs and dances for good vibes, on “Facebook, Instagram, o Tiktok,” Nograles continued.

“It is only appropriate [...] on National Heroes Day, we honor all of them with a simple gesture of gratitude that we hope to carry on for the duration of the ECQ,” he said.

In the midnight briefing presided over by President Duterte, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III also lauded the country’s health workers, saying, “Ang atin pong mga healthcare workers, ang ating mga frontliners, sila po ang ating taga-salba.
