NOW THAT ARCANE IS OFFICIALLY OVER, this begs the question, 'What's next for Riot Games?'
It turns out that a new series is on the works and Christian Linke, the co-creator of Arcane and creative director of Riot Games gave hints on a Twitch stream with Necrit 94, saying: "We are investing quite a bit in Noxus, Ionia, Demacia. We start really with character stories but I'm very confident that we're investing in the right stories."
Given the ending of Arcane, there's a huge possibility that Demacia and Noxus will be the next focal point as we've seen the might of the Noxian Empire in Piltover. Plus there are easter eggs that could suggest that Swain could make an appearance in the future.
So with these hints, who are the characters that we could see in the next League of Legends series, and the possible storylines that will be uncovered?
For Demacia
Demacia, a city that values justice above everything else is currently at odds with Noxus. It is said that the Kingdom has lost the prestige of its golden age given its stubborness to accept the changing world.
Notable characters:
Garen and Lux - Both Garen and Lux are siblings, with the former serving as Demacia's knight in shining armor, while the latter is a mage with the ability to wield light. Both have suffered from the death of their uncle who died at the hands of a mage, which explains why Garen has no remorse towards magic users.
Lux being a mage herself, is cautious about her abilities to her elder brother.
Galio - The stone colossus of Demacia, designed by Arcturus J. Durand. He also serves as a guardian to Lux, who is the first person to have a conversation with the stone colossus.
Fiora - The most feared duelist in Valoran, who has helped Garen train the Dauntless Vanguard. Together they even fought against a dragon that attacked Ehrenmount. Fiora has also turned down her suitors for fear of becoming a political pawn.
Jarvan IV - The once prince of Demacia who became king when Jarvan III died. He later developed feelings for Shyvana, who can take the form of a dragon.
Morgana and Kayle - The twin sisters and Winged Protectors of Demacia, both representing the different perspectives of Justice with Morgana as the compassionate side of justice, while Kayle serves as blind justice. Due to their differences, the two tend to clash with each other, further heightened after the tragic death of their father.
Sylas - A ruthless rebel who ended up killing two mageseekers for protecting a little girl. He was later imprisonned due to his actions. In prison, he was treated like an animal, forcing him to harbor a grudge towards the Mageseekers. He nearly executed Jarvan IV.
Other notable characters: Shyvana, Sona, Vayne, Poppy
The Noxian Empire
Rivals of Demacia, known for their brutal and expansionist nature, Noxus values strength above everything else, making them one of the most feared empires in the world.
Notable Characters:
Swain - The ending of Arcane and the apperance of Black Rose could suggest Swain's involvement in the upcoming series. His power hungry and calculated nature make him one of the most feared magic users in the League of Legends universe.
Ambessa - We've seen her motives in the Arcane series and this could further be explored in the upcoming series. Ambessa has been renowned for her brutal and aggressive stance, while also showcasing a deceptive side as seen with her treatment with Caitlyn.
LeBlanc - A powerful sorceress who can create illusions and mirrors of herself to deceive her foes. She has always planned for Swain's demise and it is suggested that she is pulling the strings in the war between Demacia and Noxus.
Vladimir - With a thirst for mortal blood, Vladimir can control the minds and bodies of his foes, showcasing his sadistic nature, masked behind his flamboyant personality.
Katarina - A master assassin with a complex family relationship as she couldn't fulfill the standards of her parents. This forced Katarina to pursue her own Noxian ideologies, which could be the reason why she has her own code of honor. This code would highlight some affection towards Demacia's Garen.
Other noteworthy characters: Riven, Sion, Samira, Darius
The dark side of Ionia
A land driven by spirituality, beauty, and magic, Ionia prides itself of its isolationist approach, as it remained neutral in the conflicts happening in Valoran.
That is until they were invaded by Noxus, and due to the nature of the war, the once peaceful region has unleashed its darker side.
Notable Characters:
Ahri - A fox-like vestaya who is obsessed in consuming the souls of humans. Due to the high volume of souls devoured, Ahri developed a level of empathy and guilt to the point that she distanced herself from Vesani society. Eventually she decided to make ammends from her past mistakes and forge a brighter future ahead.
Rakan and Xayah - Both Rakan and Xayah are vastayan lovers who would do anything to free Ionia's wild magic and preserve the nation's natural magic.
Yasuo - A swordsman who wields the power of the air. He was falsely accussed of murdering his master, forcing him to slay his own brother as he couldn't prove his own innocence. Burdened by guilt, he wanders around the world with his blade,
Zed - The leader of the Order of Shadow, tasked to militarize Ionia against Noxian invasion. The was against Noxus forced him to unlock a malevolent magical being, giving him new abilities that would threaten his enemies.
Other notable characters: Akali, Lee Sin, Master Yi, Wukong
