PACIFIC Town Army import Jenelle Jordan already feels at home in the Philippines.
The American spiker, a first-timer in the country, was welcomed with a loud roar when she debuted in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference on Sunday at The Arena in San Juan.
The outspoken reinforcement has been experiencing our trademark Filipino hospitality — from her team down to the fans who cheered them on at the venue.
“I like it a lot, it feels like a family,” said Jordan. “I’ve only been here for a week but I can tell that everybody is really close.”
This welcome, she said, did wonders for her and the team on the playing court.
“You feel accepted, you don’t worry," she said. "They tell you to calm down like everybody has your back so it’s really a team effort, a team win. I love playing here and I love the feeling of a family that I have.”
Pacific Town Army was off to a good start, defeating BaliPure 25-20, 25-16, 24-26, 25-23.
Jordan finished with 15 points, from 13 spikes, three blocks and two service aces in the match that took almost two hours to finish.
“First game here, it’s really exciting. Great crowd, great energy, I thought we fought really well as a team and we worked through the downtime and stayed. I’m glad we pulled off that win,” she said.
Pacific Town Army will face BanKo on Wednesday.
