STEPPING out of her comfort zone is one thing that brings out the best in Alyssa Valdez.
From a volleyball player, the national team mainstay has done commercials, teleserye cameos, and variety shows guestings.
For the first time, Valdez will debut on the big screen in the movie My Letters to Happy alongside Glaiza de Castro and TJ Trinidad.
"Very hard but challenging" is how Valdez described her first acting experience but she’s glad to make the bold step of trying out a whole different thing from what she’s used to do.

“Masaya ako sa experience ko with them. I’m very happy na tinanggap ko po ang opportunity na ito kasi it’s very different, different element and different environment for me,” said Valdez during the press conference on Friday at Woorijib Home of Korean Buffet in Quezon City.
“It was very hard but challenging but I really enjoyed it kasi once in your life you have to try something different, something to open a lot of opportunities also and to know yourself better,” she added.
Unlike volleyball, where they create the plays to score, Valdez found it hard at first.
However, like playing under a new system, she managed to adjust and adapt quickly to what is required of her.

“I think it was very hard, actually, kasi in volleyball your emotion is based on a situation given to you but here you make that situation kung ano ang ibibigay sa’yo ng director,” she said.
“May mga actors’ cue nga akong natutunan dito, ‘yun na ang ginagawa ko,” she added laughing.
Valdez will play the role of Cindy, who works as an assistant to the character of Albert played by Trinidad.
My Letters to Happy opens in cinemas on July 17 nationwide.
