CLOCKING in multiple historic wins for Philippine tennis this year, Filipina sensation Alex Eala topped Google’s 2025 Year in Search list for female personalities.
The global platform released its list on Friday night, Manila time.
The 20-year-old WTA No. 50 is the highest-ranked Filipino tennis player in history, the first to break into the world’s Top 100, the first to win a Grand Slam match, and the first to capture a WTA title.
Eala achieved these feats throughout 2025, beginning with her breakthrough run at the Miami Open in March, where she pulled off a series of upsets against some of the world’s top players, including Iga Swiatek and Madison Keys.
She then climbed into the Top 100, paving the way for direct entries into Grand Slam main draws.
In August, she won her first Grand Slam-level match against then–world No. 14 Clara Tauson.
The following month, she clinched her first-ever WTA title at the WTA 125 event in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Following Eala on the female personalities list is social media figure Bea Borres at No. 2, actress AJ Raval at No. 3, and K-pop group TWICE at No. 4.
Meanwhile, in the sports category, Eala placed fourth—the only individual athlete in the top five—behind searches for “OKC vs Indiana,” “Pacquiao vs Barrios,” and “NBA standings 2025,” with “FIBA Asia Cup” rounding out the list at No. 5.
