BEEP, beep, beep, beep — look what's revved up to take you on a trip.

To commemorate the Tamiya Mini 4WD Asia Challenge held in Manila last June 20 to 23, the Japanese brand launched the Tamiya Dyipne, its colorful salute to the iconic king of Philippine roads.
“If you look at the Dyipne, some of the stickers actually say Asia Challenge," said Ferdie Khan, owner of The Brickyard, Tamiya's home in the Philippines. "We designed it and we have it produced specifically for this event.”
Almost 300 participants representing 11 countries competed in the stock class and open race competition, which was held in the Philippines for the first time.

Enthusiasts from Indonesia, Brunei, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Vietnam, Korea, Thailand, Hong Kong, China, and the Philippines also got to assemble their best cars during the four-day event held at the Glorietta Activity Center, Makati.

But the Dyipne was obviously one of the stars of the show.
Khan said this eye-catching exclusive was the unanimous choice to symbolize our hosting of the event. Like other Tamiya cars, the Dyipne was built in Cebu.
“Definitely [Pinoy na Pinoy], I mean, if you talk about cars and the Philippines what’s the first thing that comes to your mind? It’s the jeepney, right?” he said. “So we thought it’s the best way to commemorate and celebrate the Philippines.”

Meanwhile, Filipino Bien Chavez ruled the open race as he earned the spot to represent the Philippines in the Tamiya Mini 4WD Japan Cup 2019 in November.
