THIS year, many car and motorcycle buyers had to take the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) Law into consideration one way or another, whether it was with the higher price tags of vehicles or the adjustment to their income taxes. Instead of buying brand-new, some may have opted for a secondhand car or bike instead. OLX Philippines has just released its list of the most searched cars and bikes in 2018, and it gives us an insight into Filipinos' buying habits.
We may have declared before that the sedan is on its way out, but the Honda Civic seems to be going strong, clinching the top spot on OLX's list of most searched vehicles. After that comes the whole gamut of popular big vehicles like the Toyota Fortuner and Innova, the Mitsubishi Montero Sport, and vans like the Hyundai Starex. The Toyota Vios, naturally, also makes the cut. Surprisingly, the Mitsubishi Lancer was one of the top 10 searched vehicles, too, though judging by the image OLX used to illustrate the model, it's likely that buyers are looking for older iterations.
As for the two-wheelers, the Yamaha Mio took the top spot. In fact, Yamaha dominated the search listings, with four of its models in the top 10. Suzuki, Ducati, Vespa, Kawasaki, and Rusi also made the list. In 10th place, meanwhile, is Harley-Davidson. You can check out the infographics put together by OLX below.
"It's interesting to see which car models the market is looking up online. The most-searched list, which has some regulars and new nameplates, reveals consumers' preference in 2018. Because of the upswing in motorcycle demand, the first-ever roundup of the most popular motorbike brands and models in terms of search this year is also available," says Manuel Roman, the head of cars for OLX Philippines.
