Hoops, music, and now rides — Portland Trail Blazers superstar Damian Lillard just became the co-owner of a Toyota dealership in McMinnville, Oregon.
The dealership’s new name? Damian Lillard Toyota.
To celebrate Lillard’s new business, the mayor of McMinnville named October 1 as “Damian Lillard Day” for the small town, which has an estimated population of around 35,000 people, according to the US census.
“We wanted to create a vibe that doesn’t exist anywhere else in this space,” said co-owner Brian Sanders to news station KOIN 6. “So we got ping pong tables, Pop-a-shot, custom ‘Letter O’ donuts, and all kinds of fun stuff to kind of shake it up. It doesn’t feel like a dealership here.”
Sanders continued: "I think [Lillard's] words were: Create something so the kids don't hate to come with their parents to buy a car."
In an announcement on Instagram, Lillard called Sanders “a personal friend.”
“We're looking forward [to] serving you and your family's automotive needs!” the 6-foot-2 guard added.
In addition, reports local news site Katu2.com, the new dealership features a video station, autographed memorabilia, and “new, unique styling queues.”
