Yamaha Motor Philippines is really revving into high gear this year. On the heels of its revamped Y-Ride premiere in collaboration with some of the biggest local lifestyle influencers, the motorcycle manufacturer has launched the Mio Gear, Play Your Tough Campaign, through the Mio Gear Playground. This time, Yamaha has tapped some of the biggest sports influencers around. Participants were invited to Play their Tough out at a specially set-up arena, featuring a basketball half-court, a grueling obstacle course and an e-games challenge arena complete with a big screen. And for those who proved better than the rest, an extra challenge awaited them at the end of each day.

Coach Mav, of Mav’s Phenomenal Basketball fame, ran a basketball event that invited participating vloggers, Y-Club members and the general public to come show off their hoops skills. Side activities included free throw and three-point shootouts, as well as a three-on-three competition. The best three-on-three team even got to pit their skills against Mav’s very own squad.

At the Spartan PH obstacle course, participants could prove their mettle by challenging the grueling course, and measuring themselves up against the Spartan Ambassadors to see if they really had the toughness to hang with professional athletes. With a full course complete with monkey bars and rings, this was not an event for the faint of heart—or those with questionable upper body strength.

Participants who weren’t as ready to get sweaty were also given a chance to compete virtually through a five-on-five pro-style Call of Duty: Mobile tournament. Make no mistake: even though it runs on mobile phones rather than high-end PCs, CODM is incredibly fast-paced and fierce. At the end of Day 2, the winners had the chance to face off against Omega’s internationally competitive professional esports team, to see if they had what it took to play with the best.

Overall, the Mio Gear Playground had something for everyone. The eponymous bike is perhaps the ideal model for the active rider, with its rugged build, featuring scratch-resistant plastics, high-grip step board, and weatherproof synthetic seat. Central to the bike, however, is Yamaha’s Blue Core tech, with a more efficient engine and the Smart Motor Generator, which is directly bolted to the crank for smoother starts and less vibration. Upgrade to the Mio Gear S and you get high tech equipment like a smart key with answer-back functionality to locate your motorcycle. However hard your game is, the Mio Gear has the ability to tough it out with you.
