WITH fuel prices continuing to climb, young urban drivers, many of them just starting out in their careers, are feeling the squeeze.
Hybrids, once seen as niche, are slowly becoming part of the everyday conversation, offering a middle ground between cost efficiency and convenience for both weekday commutes and unhurried weekend plans.
That shift is where the 2026 Ford Hybrid Territory comes in.
A compact five-seater SUV, the Hybrid Territory runs on a gasoline internal combustion engine paired with an electric motor and a 1.83kWh self-charging hybrid battery.
It does not require plugging in, drawing power instead while coasting or braking — an arrangement suited for stop-and-go city driving.
A different hybrid
Those traits were put to use during a recent GALentine’s Day outing, where the Hybrid Territory became part of a full afternoon on the road.
The car made its way through several short city drives — first to build custom bouquets, then to a perfume-making session, and later to a pastry buffet —an itinerary marked by quick stops, tight parking, and constant movement.
The car handled the pace with ease.
Its agile feel made navigating city streets less demanding, while the roomy cabin comfortably accommodated passengers, flowers, shopping bags, and boxes along the way.
Driver-assist features such as the 360-degree camera, parking sensors, and cruise control also came into play, particularly in crowded areas, practical additions for younger drivers still getting used to urban traffic.
By the end of the day, the Hybrid Territory had simply blended into the experience, moving seamlessly from one stop to the next.
And for a generation that values flexibility as much as function, that kind of quiet reliability is often the point.
The American car brand's Philippine arm also improved its services with new Parts Distribution Center in Laguna.
