WHILE a lot of people are currently discovering new interests and hobbies over our country's long-running quarantine, there are also a few who reconnect with their past interests.
Former Ateneo Lady Eagles star Maddie Madayag, for instance, flaunted her graceful wushu skills on social media over the weekend — and impressed a lot of netizens in the process.
She may be popular for her blocking skills that once made UAAP history, volleyball isn't actually Madayag's first sport.
"I decided to relearn my first OG sport. Wushu with straight sword as my weapon. I’m so sloppy, but I tried," Madayag said in her Twitter post.
In the video she posted, she was doing a series of forms with a 'jian' sword.
Before her fascination with volleyball, the now 6-foot athlete used to be a martial artist when she was younger.
She also explained that her backrgound in the sport is the main reason for her iconic "game face" whenever she steps on the court.
"Probably why I look so mad all the time, guys. Maybe I just got used to looking so serious cause our faces were required to look super focused," she said in an Instagram story.
According to reports, the Davaoena started playing competitive wushu when she was in elementary school. In 2009, she even won gold in an international wushu competition.
