AFTER a stressful season, University of Santo Tomas women’s volleyball team deserve some pampering.
During Game Three of the UAAP Season 81 finals, SPIN Life caught up with dermatologist Vicki Belo and she promised to treat the Tigresses to her clinic.
“Of course, they deserve na ma-pamper naman sila because they worked so hard,” said the proud UST alumna.
Belo, who took her medicine proper in UST and graduated in 1985, was among the 21, 347 who trooped to the MOA Arena on Saturday to support the Tigresses in the decider of UAAP Season 81 women's volleyball finals.
“Ang hirap pa kumuha ng ticket pero nakaraos, I’m very much for UST talaga,” said Belo in between “Wow!” and “Go USTe!” while she cheered her heart out.
Although the Tigresses lost to Ateneo in the title match, she expressed how proud she was of the girls.
“I’m so proud of them, for me first time namin mag-finals in such a long time. Of course, I prayed talaga for their victory pero they gave it their all and that’s important” she said.
After the match Belo met with graduating UST star Sisi Rondina, whom she revealed earned her respect.
The celebrity doctor stressed that she was inspired with Rondina’s story.
“Hindi naman siya ganoon katangkad pero ang galing niyang maglaro, ang galing niyang mag-spike, ang taas niyang tumalon, passionate talaga,” she said.
“I like Cinderella stories, nabasa ko na nagtulung-tulong ang UST community to get her parents here and nagpapadala siya ng pera niya sa family niya, whatever small amount she makes, so talagang nakaka-inspire as a Filipino na may taong ganito na fighter, ang galing,” she added.
