ONE of your most-awaited face masks has finally revealed its official Philippine release date. The Uniqlo Airism face mask will be available to buy next Friday, September 18.
These face masks rock Uniqlo’s signature Airism fabric on its innermost layer to ensure maximum comfort. (It is, after all, the same material that Uniqlo uses on some of its boxers.) The two other outer layers have filters and surfaces that block airborne droplets and protect from UV rays.
The masks will retail for P590 for a pack of three. It will be available in three sizes (S, M, and L) and two colors (black and white).
In a review for Men's Health, health correspondent Melissa Matthews said, "The face mask material is lightweight, so you barely feel like there's anything on your face. While wearing the mask outside for several hours this past weekend, I was able to breathe easy and talk to people without even thinking about the mask on my face."
As with most commercial face masks of this sort, Uniqlo makes no claims that its masks are medical grade. ("This mask does not completely prevent infection," goes Uniqlo's obligatory disclaimer on its website.)
However, face masks are still very effective during the COVID-19 pandemic because it helps stop virus-carrying droplets from escaping your mouth when you speak or cough. (Which is why the government has announced that wearing a face mask in public in quarantine areas is now mandatory.)
If you’re carrying the SARS-CoV-2 virus and you don’t know it, wearing a mask might just stop you from transmitting the disease.
