The PBA Philippine Cup semifinal series between San Miguel and Phoenix is far from pretty and the battle is bound to get ugly.
The Beermen, who are seeking their fifth-straight All-Filipino championship, clawed their way back from a 12-point deficit to go 2-0 up over the No. 1 seed Pulse, 92-82—but not without Christian Standhardinger getting ejected and Doug Kramer also receiving a flagrant foul, which resulted in multiple fines (Standhardinger P20K, Kramer P5K, Calvin Abueva P15K for flashing the dirty finger on camera).
Don’t even get us started on Arwind Santos botching a wide-open dunk and Phoenix coach Louie Alas going off on Twitter after a technical foul was called against team governor Raymond Zorilla and his players were labeled “dirty.”
If there’s one pleasant thing that came out of that ugly match, it was the impressive lineup of sneakers from both teams, highlighted by a mash-up Air Jordan, a couple of flamboyant Black History Month pairs, and a clean signature shoe, among others.
