MAKING its biggest move yet in basketball, Skechers launched the SKX JE1, the brand’s first-ever signature basketball shoe with Joel Embiid.
The 2023 NBA MVP becomes the face of Skechers’ leap into signature footwear as the company continues to carve out space in a market dominated by long-established hoops giants.
“I’ve been working with Skechers on fine-tuning every detail of the SKX JE1 and I’m excited to share it with the world,” Embiid said. “Skechers strives for excellence in performance and comfort, so I couldn’t ask for a better partner in creating this signature shoe.”
The SKX JE1 was designed around Embiid’s rare blend of power and finesse. It features 5GEN® cushioning, a Move Foam™ insole, and an internal nylon shank meant to stabilize that all-important first step.
A plush collar, exaggerated heel, and Goodyear® rubber outsole with a chaotic, multi-directional traction pattern round out the package.
Its upper, framed by a 3D-printed silicon cage, doubles as a nod to the “organized chaos” that has marked Embiid’s rise—from picking up basketball in his teens in Cameroon to becoming one of the NBA’s most dominant big men.
Heel accents represent his three personal anchors: heritage, sports, and family.
The SKX JE1 made its first appearance at the NBA Store Greenhills on December 11 and will roll out to select Skechers branches—One Ayala, Glorietta, Greenhills, and Gateway 2—starting December 16, with more retailers to follow.
