A grateful Rhenz Abando couldn't think of another way to show his appreciation for the unversity that put a spotlight on his basketball career other than wearing its colors via his customized Nike PG3 by Joker Kustoms.
The reserved standout has gone beyond words to express his gratitude: "Idea ko 'tong design na 'to kasi gusto ko 'yung may meaning.
The mesh upper of the PG3 features a claw marks of a tiger with its glaring eye, while a painting of the iconic UST Main Building is seen on the outsole over the heel counter of the shoes.
The 21-year-old forward shared how choosing a design close to his heart, in a way, lifts his morale on the court.
Before Growling Tigers coach Aldin Ayo recruited Rhenz, he used to play for the Philippine College of Science and Technology in Pangasinan.
Now, he has taken the mantle of key player for his new home, as he plays his heart out every game. Last Sunday, Rhenz had 11 points and seven assists for UST in a 72-58 losing effort to FEU.
"Best thing about being a Growling Tiger is 'yung turingan namin sa isa't isa.
