Reebok partners with WNBA to highlight its return to basketball

REEBOK has teamed up with the WNBA in a multi-year partnership, marking a significant moment in the brand’s continued commitment to supporting women’s sports.

As an authorized footwear supplier for the league, Reebok vowed to elevate visibility of the league through content creation with rising stars like Angel Reese of the Chicago Sky and Lexie Brown of the Los Angeles Sparks.

This partnership reflects the ongoing growth of the WNBA, which has steadily gained momentum and attracted major brands.

According to WNBA chief growth officer Colie Edison, the league’s expanding reach provides an exciting opportunity to work with Reebok in a way that inspires the next generation of basketball players and fans.

“The WNBA continues to grow with iconic brands,” Edison said. “We look forward to Reebok joining us in driving women’s basketball to new heights.”

Reebok, known for its bold presence in sports culture, has made it clear that it intends to reclaim its place in basketball. In 2021, the brand announced its ambition to reinvigorate its basketball division by appointing basketball legends Shaquille O’Neal and Allen Iverson to key leadership roles. Soon after, they signed Angel Reese, the rising star who has since become one of the faces of the brand.

“It’s an exciting time for Reebok, the WNBA, and the game of basketball overall,” said Shaquille O’Neal, president of Reebok Basketball. “We’re ready to dive in headfirst with everything from product to players and more.”

Reese, who launched her debut Reebok collection, “Reebok by Angel,” this past summer, has already made waves both on and off the court. The collection includes the “Engine A,” a new performance basketball shoe that marks a milestone for the brand. In late 2023, Reese and Reebok extended their partnership, and fans can expect a signature sneaker release in 2026—making her only the second WNBA player to receive a signature shoe from the brand.

Reflecting on the partnership, Reese expressed her excitement: “Reebok has been such an amazing partner and advocate for women in sport. As strong female athletes, we can use our platform to set an example for young players coming up in the sport. I’m happy to see the WNBA and Reebok supporting one another because together we’re so much stronger, and our reach is so much further.”

Reebok’s history with women’s basketball dates back to the 1980s when the brand began producing basketball shoes specifically for women. Throughout the ‘90s, Reebok sponsored some of the best women’s collegiate teams, and in 1997, the brand made history by giving basketball legend Rebecca Lobo her own signature shoe. The company has also been involved with the WNBA since its early years, forging marketing partnerships and supporting major events like the first-ever women’s high school All-American game in 2002.
