BRIGHT pink for a bright future - Filipino youth hoopers now have a new symbol of aspiration, inspired by the rise of Kevin Quiambao.

From the streets of Muntinlupa to Korea, and with eyes on the NBA, the 6-foot-6 Gilas Pilipinas wing has etched his name into Philippine basketball lore in the most fashionable way possible: with an exclusive player-edition colorway of the adidas AdiZero Select 3.0, the KQ63.

First seen worn by Jalen Green during Houston Rockets games, the pair - designed by Filipino toy artist QUICCS - will be made available to the public on Philippine Independence Day, June 12.

A first of its kind for the local scene, Quiambao is glad to have made it work despite his packed schedule.

“Personally, super laking bagay sa’kin nito as a player. I’m very happy and proud na gumawa kami ng history ni kuya Quiccs,” Quiambao said during the official launch on Wednesday night in Uptown Bonifacio, BGC.

He continued, “For me na trying to get into the NBA, big boost siya for me. Just really happy. Jalen Green rocked it—hopefully, iro-rock ko din siya sa NBA.”

KQ and QUICCS, a colorful combo

Overseeing the overall look and feel of the shoe, QUICCS revealed that the Korean Basketball League star had only one request: to make the bright, eye-catching tone the dominant color.

“'Yung nag-iisang request ni KQ is neon pink - his favorite color - as it represents the bright future of the Filipino youth. He puts a lot of importance on inspiring the youth, kaya besides the pros, he loves playing in the streets to inspire young players,” QUICCS, legally known as Juanito Maiquez, shared.

The lightweight basketball shoe features a pink upper with white and mustard accents on the three stripes and outer sole area.

It also includes KQ and QUICCS details throughout, including custom artwork on the insole - a portrait of Quiambao and QUICCS’ iconic toy logo side by side.

QUICCS is no stranger to basketball shoe design, having worked on exclusive colorways of adidas Hardens before.

Of course, this collaboration is much more meaningful, as it’s his first with a fellow Filipino.

“My brand gives extra importance to being Filipino. First time to work with a local athlete, it's very special to me. Nakakataba ng puso to work with KQ - a generational talent. We’re all rooting for him,” he added.
