Pomade brewers know that sometimes, gentlemen choose the pomade not for the shine or the hold, but for another equally important aspect: scent. That's why they try to maintain a variety of fragrances for their customers. But what scent is the most popular? We surveyed several local makers to find out which hair scent pleases Pinoy noses the most.
The most popular scent is mint
Mint takes our number one spot, being the top-seller for five out of eight brands. It seems that the male love for minty fresh shampoo, soap, toothpaste, and other things includes pomada as well. You have concoctions like Generacion's Valor, a minty pomade that comes with a hint of strawberry. There?s RDMPTN's The Original Redemption, where the distinctive smells of tobacco and cucumber combine with peppermint. The Maverick PH's Northener, gently crawls up your nose with an olive mint aroma, while Slick Tight and Pomadour keep it simple with their Cool Mint, and Fresh Mint scents respectively.
Fruity hair care takes second place
The fruity variety of pomade comes in at second. RDMPTN's The Phoenix has that pink grapefruit scent that will definitely remind you of gin pom. Greasy Basky upgraded that pomegranate scent into a Pomegrenade. Strawberries and Cream is one of Slick Tight's best sellers, while for Pomadour, it's the spicy citrus variant of their Tough Guy pomade.
Manly surprisingly takes up the rear
Naturally, one of the top answers would be the manly scent since, well, putting on a pomade is all about being a classy gentleman. But the strong musky vibe turns out to be a less popular option locally. If you want to stand out though, there's Man Pomade PH's Narco and Greasy Basky's Savage that keep it simple with a flat out manly fragrance, while Generacion?s Heneral Herardo adds a hint of sweetness into their musky scent.
