COP or drop?
Terrence Romeo teased basketball fans and sneakerheads alike on Thursday when he posted on social media a new colorway to his Peak basketball shoe.
The GlobalPort guard shared a photo on his Twitter account that shows him holding a blue shoe that’s different from the first pair the flamboyant scorer has showcased in the current PBA Philippine Cup since signing an endorsement deal with Peak.
Romeo has been wearing a low top pair in a crimson colorway that clashes with the Batang Pier’s black and neon green kit. It’s been his habit dating back to his Far Eastern University days to wear striking shoes that differ from his team’s colors.
The new pair Romeo showed also adopted a low-top silhouette, but the Peak logo is found in the center of the upper instead of the heel. The blue-on-blue overlapping design on top of a white outsole is also another striking difference to this latest addition, and both Romeo and Peak have yet to confirm whether this is the Batang Pier star’s signature pair.
This new shoe, as well as the first Peak sneakers Romeo wears in the PBA, bears no markings identifiable with the high-scoring guard. But fans of the popular player have been clamoring Peak to give Romeo a logo or monogram of his own similar to the ones the brand has provided its other endorsers.
With the endorsement deal he signed last October, the former FEU star joins the likes of NBA players Tony Parker, Dwight Howard, George Hill and Lou Williams in promoting the China-based footwear and apparel brand.
The new shoe is available at Olympic Village and SM department stores.
