The Philippines has a special place in Kyrie Irving's heart, and his latest signature shoe is more than enough proof.
The Brooklyn Nets guard will debut the Nike Kyrie 6 by celebrating his special connection to the number 11: dad Drederick wore No. 11 as a basketball player, he was selected first overall (Round 1, Pick 1) in the 2011 NBA draft, and he breached the 11,000-point mark on March 11, among other reasons.
The sixth installment in Uncle Drew's line will initially come via a preheat collection — inspired by the 11 cities that are dear to him, including Manila.
Says the Nike statement: "The Philippines' boundless enthusiasm and passion for the game is celebrated through a side lenticular graphic of the uniquely designed courts you find tucked away in the smaller neighborhoods of Manila. A Filipino Flag-inspired image is featured on the left strap, and to signify the Philippines, the right strap boasts the letters 'PH.'"
Each colorway will be exclusively available in its respective city. Watch as Kyrie talks about the rest of the themed colorways:
A special Kyrie 6 'Manila' colorway will drop on November 11 as part of the Kyrie 6 Preheat Collection at select Titan and Nike retailers in limited quantities.
