New TR7 version out soon as Terrence extends deal with Peak

Nov 23, 2018

TERRENCE Romeo just renewed his partnership with what he considers his ‘other family.’

The prolific TnT Katropa shooting guard signed a fresh two-year contract with Peak Sports Philippines on Thursday as he remained the only Filipino basketball player to be given a signature shoe by an international apparel brand.

The new deal meant the release of a possible new version of Peak TR7, which first came out in both the Philippine and international markets in 2017 and features a woven knit upper, an independent lacing system, and sectional upper cushion.

Romeo was elated with the continued trust given him by the sportswear company.

“Nagpapasalamat ako dahil binigyan nila ulit ako ng chance at nagtiwala sila sa kakayahan ko,” said Romeo during the contract signing at the Gloria Maris Restaurant in Greenhills, San Juan on Thursday.

“Ang turingan namin sa Peak talagang family. From the start, sila yung nagtiwala sa akin na puwede akong maging endorser ng isang brand (ng sportswear) na international.”

Joining Romeo in the contract signing were Michael Chenglay, president Peak Philippines, Jon Chenglay, general manager, and Jojo Ladaban, chief operating officer.

Ladaban said Peak suits Romeo very well especially for a player who’s very particular with the playing shoes he wears.

The 26-year-old native of Imus, Cavite added he also gives out his inputs on his own shoe brand.

“Nagtatanong din sila sa akin kung ano yung gusto ko. Very open yung communication. Kapag may mga suggestions ako, binibigyan din nila ng consideration,” said the former UAAP MVP from Far Eastern University.

As part of his new deal, Peak will arrange a training program for Romeo, possibly in the US, to further improve his skills.

“We’re looking to have him undergo training abroad kapag mag-e-expire na yung contract niya for him to be in great physical condition. So we need at least a window on his schedule para ma-arrange ito, kasi si Terrence sobrang busy rin sa PBA,” said Ladaban.

Given the chance, Romeo would love to have the partnership last until he retires.

“Sana nga,” he said. “Malaking achievement sa akin yun, pagtapos ng career ko babalikan ko yun na ako yung unang naging Filipino endorser ng Peak.”

Romeo joins NBA stars Tony Parker, Dwight Howard, Matthew Dellavedova, George Hill, among others, as leading endorsers of Peak.
