THE MEME has taken on a life of its own.
By now, this picture of Jovit Baldivino is an extremely baller pose has most likely taken over your feeds. (Our fave is a fake NBA 2K21 cover we spotted on Facebook a while back; while Boy Abunda may have taken Damian Lillard-esque center billing, Jovit got some good cover real estate right there.)
But this one takes the cake.
Facebook user Ba So claims to have created the “Air Jovit” — what appears to be an Air Jordan XXXI, or at least, a very close approximation of it, with a silhouette of Baldivino Photoshopped onto the heel.
"Naisip ko lang yung kay Jovit kasi nauso na yung dating meme about sa Jordan shoes na iba logo," said Jacon Jazmin Arpon (the real name of Ba So). "So gumawa din ako ng meme pero si Jovit yung logo."
Arpon created the image yesterday, and then posted it 18 hours ago as of writing. But it became viral thanks to another Facebook user, who posted it four hours later and captioned it “For Sale: JB1 'Faithfully' Limited Edition.”
As of posting, that latter post has over 21,000 shares.
Arpon is admittedly miffed that other Facebook users didn't credit him for the image. "Ngayon ko lang din po nalaman na nag-viral siya kasi sobrang daming kumuha nung picture, tas nag-viral sa page nila pero walang nag-credit sa akin," he told SPIN Life.
The viral image of Baldivino is actually an old one, taken from a post the 26-year-old singer had uploaded back in 2011. For some inexplicable reason, it has resurfaced again and become the basketball meme of the moment.
