Statuesque volleyball star Major Baron is rekindling her love for fashion with her current foray into modeling.
The F2 Logistics middle blocker, who actually started out in the industry when she was in high school, is not wasting her second chance at turning her dream into a reality.
After a few workshops and modeling stints in Baguio City, Baron had to temporarily leave the runway to focus on volleyball as she was recruited to play for perennial title favorite La Salle women’s volleyball team in the UAAP.
“Nag-start ako high school pa lang, ‘yun talaga ang first ko na gusto kong gawin," the 5-foot-11 Majoy says. "Siyempre noong nag-college na ako, mas focus ko ‘yung volleyball so hindi ko na rin siya na-pursue in a way.”
After her UAAP career, an opportunity to resume modeling came up, giving her the chance to devote time to her passion.
So far, Major has been a featured ramp model in a couple of fashion shows and graced the covers of fashion magazines alongside fellow athletes.
“Kapag nasa mga runway ako, [nasa] different world talaga. I get to be with people na into fashion din.
Majoy admits that while her athletic frame is definitely a plus, it can also present unique problems sometimes.
While many of her followers on social media have been showering Majoy with praise for her skill in modeling, the soft-spoken volleybelle insisted that she still has a lot to learn. For now, she’s happy to be back without giving up her volleyball career.
Right now, though, Majoy insists modeling is still a side hustle for her.
Pero kung mayroon [chance] and may time naman ako, why not ‘di ba?”
